Reflecting on the Past Year: Highlights of 2013 January 22nd, 2014, by wizdom.ai Team
Looking back, 2013 has been an eventful and exciting year for colwiz! We reached some fantastic milestones, and grew both our community and team significantly, adding to our ‘collective wisdom’. Your feedback has been, and will continue to be, instrumental in helping us improve colwiz, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for being with us for this amazing ride. We thought we would take a minute to reminisce on the great year that 2013 was, and the major events that unfolded:
In March of 2013, colwiz became freely available to researchers worldwide! After 2 years in private beta, during which we actively engaged academic researchers for feedback and advice to help fine tune our software, colwiz entered the public domain, and is now free to all.
March also saw the partnership with the world’s largest scientific organisation, the American Chemical Society (ACS) bringing colwiz functionality to the entire ACS community of over 200,000 members through the launch of ACS ChemWorx.
We kicked off last year with the launch of colwiz mobile apps, first for iPhone and iPad, and then for Android, as well. With the mobile apps, you can take your fully synced colwiz research library with you wherever you go, whether it is to meetings, on train rides, or when you just need a quick reference.
In 2013, we attended a variety of events, including WebSummit – the largest tech conference in the world, hosted in Dublin. There we met Adam Cheyner, co-founder of Siri, and the former Director of Engineering for iPhone at Apple, who could not have been more encouraging, stating “[colwiz] is the most exciting thing at WebSummit.”
To cap off the year, colwiz collaborated with the leading academic publishers, Royal Society Publishing and Taylor & Francis to launch the Interactive PDF reader using the innovative HTML5 technology. Researchers can now highlight and annotate articles directly on these publishers’ websites and add them to their colwiz Library in an instant.
Going forward, we are committed to improving current functionalities, and have an assortment of exciting new releases coming out this year. The year 2014 is shaping up to be the most exciting in terms of what we’re going to do, what you’re going to experience, and how the landscape of research will change for the better.
